In the two issues of the AFIN-TS Forum (AFIN-TS Forum 07 and AFIN-TS Forum 08 ) we take up our topic on ‘polarity-extended chromatography’ using RPLC-HILIC coupling. We summarize the applications and findings of a decade (AFIN-TS Forum 07) and present an optimized version for the nextdecade with the modules of our cooperation partner Thermo Fisher Scientific (AFIN-TS Forum 08).

In the new issue of the AFIN-TS Forum (AFIN-TS Forum 06) we present a sample preparation strategy for high-salt contenting samples for NTS analysis. In this study, four different solid phase materials (SPE) were investigated for their suitability for salt reduction while retaining polar and very polar organic compounds. Two of the tested SPE phases showed a very high recovery of the investigated substances with very efficient salt reduction.
